The Base > Power of Simplicity > Long life primary interface
Primary system equipment have a long life compared to modern digital equipment. Digital secondary equipment might be replaced a few times during the life of the primary equipment. Replacement is a time intensive exercise and therefore costly. It imposes risks to personnel and power system as well, so minimizing the scope of replacement is recommendable.
Since the life of the primary system is long it implies an unaltered interface to the secondary system as well. For this reason we developed primary process interface modules with a long technical and functional life. Replacement of this interface is not foreseen for the coming decades not for technical reasons neither for functional ones. The specifications of the modules are far beyond the commonly applied requirements.
The SASensor concept consists of three different interface modules, one for the 3-phase current, one for the 3-phase voltage and one for indication and control of primary switching equipment.
The Current Interface Module [CIM] and the Voltage Interface Module [VIM] are connected to the conventional instrument transformers.
The Breaker Interface Module [BIM] is used for position and alarm indications of the circuit breaker as well as to trip/close the circuit breaker and/or the disconnect / earth switches
For redundancy each module can be connected to a double set of fiber optic cables. All modules are maintenance free.
