Our reality

Vision on lifetime management of the ICT solutions in the grid is key to successful business case evaluation. What makes SASensor unique, is the modularity of the architecture. This modularity is based on the principle of breaking the system down into functionality and components, each with their individual lifecycle characteristics. Two of the characteristics are perceived as essential parameters in business case evaluations:

  • Lifetime of electronic equipment
  • Future extendability/upgradability

Functional flexibility and upgradability to cater to future demands without changing the hardware implementation minimizes the investments if extra functional requirements arise. The lifetime of electronic equipment is of concern since renewal of electronic equipment connected to primary plant is costly and often requires primary outages.
SASensor’s unique modularity is based on two aspects: a separation of the physical devices (electronic hardware) and functionality (software) on the one hand and a separation of fast-ageing components (computers) and the interface with the primary process (process interface modules) with a long life time on the other hand.
This double separation within the system architecture makes it possible to adapt SASensor’s installations to the ever-increasing demands of the grid, simply by means of software upgrades and/or computer performance improvements. In this way the value of your present investment is guaranteed for decades to come.
