SASensor solutions consist of different units, devices and modules, which we call our building blocks. The intelligent system architecture enables you to create the optimum automation solution for your primary or secondary substation. The building blocks of SASensor HMV are listed below:

Versatile Communication Unit (VCU106)
The Versatile Communication Unit (VCU) connects the SASensor® Central Control Units with the remote control centre as well as the office for continuous access to all digital information from the substation.
The Versatile Communication Unit (VCU) is the serial media convertor that connects the substation with the remote control centre for remote operation and maintenance, but also with the offi ce for continuous access to all digital information from the substation. The confi guration of the VCU depends on the requirements. It can include RS232 ports for connection to e.g. remote control centres (RCC), UTP ports for connection to e.g. the Wide Area Network (WAN) and ST fi ber optic ports to enable 100Base-FX Ethernet communication with the SASensor processing units. Optionally, the VCU can have a connection for the external GPS (Global Positioning System) antenna, to be used for absolute time accuracy.
The VCU106 for example, is equipped with one RS-232 communication port, one UTP port and 6 x duplex fiberptic communication ports. The VCU is designed to be maintenance free. Read the leaflet »

Central Control Unit (CCU600 series)CCU600
The Central Control Unit is one of SASensor’s computing devices.

The CCU is an “all-in-one-box” unit, consisting of a “off-the-shelf” Single Board Computer (SBC) and a confi gurable number of fiber optic interface boards which functionally act as ethernet switch.

  • The CCU 600 series is a modular unit with the following hardware properties:
  • One scalable Single Board Computer with Flash (hard) disk
  • Selectable number of boards with 7 Ethernet 100BaseFX ports each running the flexible and open software environment

The SBC of the CCU runs the open real-time operating system ARTOS® with the SASensor applications. Read the leaflet »

Current Interface Module (CIM631)CIM631
The Current Interface Module (CIM) measures and digitizes the three phase currents supplied by the secondary windings of a conventional current transformer (CT). The digitized signals from the CIM contain all information of the original secondary currents over their full dynamic range.
The measuring range is defined from 1 mA to 300 A (secondary). The guaranteed accuracy is defined from 10 mA to 270 A. To facilitate the extreme wide value range, the CIM is equipped with two input cores per phase. The first (M)core is called the measurement input and the second core (P) is called the protection input. It communicates by fibre optic Ethernet to the SASensor Control Units.
The CIM631 features:

  • Three phase current inputs to obtain 3-phase and calculated neutral measurements.

The CIM is designed for long life and maintenance free operation. Read the leaflet »

Voltage Interface Module (VIM622)VIM622
The Voltage Interface Module (VIM) measures and digitizes the three phase voltages supplied by the secondary windings of a conventional voltage transformer (VT). The digitized signals from the VIM contain all information of the original secondary voltages over their full dynamic range. The Voltage Interface Module (VIM) is connected to the substation’s conventional voltage transformers. It communicates by fiber ptic Ethernet to the SASensor Control Units.
The VIM features:

  • Three phase voltage inputs to obtain 3-phase and calculated neutral measurements

The VIM is designed for long life and maintenance free operation. Read the leaflet »

Breaker Interface Module (BIM641)BIM641
The Breaker Interface Module (BIM) is a compact input/output interface to operate and monitor switchgear.
The BIM features:

  • 10 digital inputs, supplying their own power to external dry contacts, such as position, indication and alarm contacts
  • 8 relay outputs as single, normally open, heavy duty relay contacts. Each contact is provided with two circuit supervision schemes; one to monitor the electrical circuit to where the “to-be-closed” contact is connected, the other to monitor the ability of activating the output.
  • Power supply capable for wide input DC voltage range
  • Two duplex ports of 100Base FX Fast Ethernet with ST connectors for multi-mode fi ber optic with separate strands for receive and transmit.

The BIM is designed for long life and maintenance free operation. Read the leaflet »
